North Carolina Office of Chief Medical Examiner and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations in partnership with RTI International will be hosting their first missing persons day event. This event is for families and friends who are searching for their missing loved ones. Law enforcement will be on hand to take reports and collect identifying information. Families of missing persons will have an opportunity to enter their family member into national databases, meet with professionals who are dedicated to finding the missing, provide family reference DNA samples, meet other families who understand grief and trauma, and learn about the resources available to help.
NamUs staff will be present to meet with families who have missing loved ones, enter new missing persons cases and update existing cases in NamUs. NamUs staff will also provide information on NamUs to families and the public, and assist law enforcement with DNA collection.
