Joe Welsch joined the NamUs team as a Regional Program Specialist in 2022. Prior to NamUs, he worked for the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin for 16 years in the jail, patrol, and detective divisions. For most of his tenure in Sauk County, Mr. Welsch served as a supervisor in criminal investigations. After leaving Sauk County, he worked as a Special Agent for the Wisconsin Department of Justice-Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) for 16 years and was assigned to the Eau Claire Field Office. There, he was assigned to the Major Crimes Bureau, where his primary responsibilities involved investigating homicides, missing persons, unidentified human remains, and officer-involved incidents.
